Interview with the Director of Revenue Management Christoph Mödl

Please introduce yourself briefly and tell us what makes your hotel or hosting role special.
My name is Christoph Mödl and I work for Neighborhood Hotels in Nuremberg, which belongs to the local Alpha Real Estate Group. As Director of Revenue Management and authorized signatory, I am in charge of the Melter Hotel & Apartments and the Hotel Karl August with a total of 173 rooms.

Did you or how did you do revenue management before you switched to happyhotel?
Before happyhotel, we implemented our revenue management using 30 price levels via our PMS and via numerous Excel tools.

What were the decision criteria for happyhotel?
The decisive factors for choosing happyhotel were the range of functions perfectly tailored to our needs, the ease of use, the simple integration with our existing PMS, and the fact that happyhotel is a company based in Germany.

How does happyhotel make your everyday life easier?
First and foremost, the fast data transfer is a great help. In addition, the automatic pickup report is very practical, which provides me with an overview of the most important key figures in a short time. Likewise, happyhotel enables us to price individual categories very flexibly.

I couldn’t make up my mind at that point.

How has your average workday changed since integrating happyhotel?
Through happyhotel we have a higher price update rhythm. So our prices are adjusted much more frequently than before. In addition, I save a lot of time with happyhotel.

What is the best thing about happyhotel? Which feature do you feel saves you the most time?
I especially like the demand setting for events. It allowed me to “teach” the algorithm the price reactions very easily, especially after the last two years of Pandemic.
